Umbrellas

umbrellas book cover My first original puzzle, and also the first to become a book in print.

Drywaller

Drywaller is my favourite puzzle, there's a number of rooms and only the number of walls are specified. Mathematically, it's the dual of Sudoku :)

Wordarc

Find overlapping words.

Computer Games

Everyone who makes software sooner or later ends up making games. I think it's a character flaw.

  • The only one I ever finished was my Airplane Game
  • You're very welcome to use my sprites
  • There were a handful of games I started with GameMaker, that I never finished:
    • Plane Game 2.0, it's just a little bit of flying. Arrow keys, PgUp and PgDn to move, space shoots, but bullets don't do anything.
    • Faux 3D Tank game The most fun part of my airplane game is blowing things up, so I was going to make a multiplayer game with giant robots destroying cities. The plane was to simulate 3D by layering sprites. This is a graphics test of the tank, a few trains and some cars. Exectuable & source
    • 2D/3D Adventure RPG I loved Zelda, here's the start of an overhead quasi-3D game. There're more than a few bugs, but none are fatal as far as I can tell, there are a few types of enemies, a small boss encounter and some goodies, but it's a short game (no health, your score decreases if you're hit). Exectuable & source
    • Simple overhead action game This is the first game I made, I'm not happy with the controls and the player really needs to be able to shoot. It seemed like a good idea to just start over rather than re-work it. Exectuable & source
    • Simple overhead action game 2 Here's an improved version of the same game engine, now there's some slight physics (you accelerate a little when you walk), you can use energy to shoot (with the alt-key) and there's health. The level is a lot shorter and less complex. Now it needs the full version of GameMaker, but only a little for sprite rotation, you can probably take it out. Exectuable & source
    • Faux 3D Tank game This one is a multiplayer version of the engine before, it currently supports 2 keyboard (Player 1: arrow keys and "End", Player 2: "WASD" and "C") and 2 joystick players. There just isn't much to do. The screen scrolls really well, the game has health and scores and enemies. Exectuable & source
